Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, born in 1749, was a brilliant German wirter who authored works in a vast number of areas, including poetry, literature, drama, theology, humanism and science.  He is probably best known for his drama, “Faust” and for the novel “The Sorrows of Young Werther.”  His works have continued to inspire writers and artists of every kind.
